Biography

Lucie Bartholomäi began her musical education at the age of 5. She was admitted to the gifted class of the Free State of Saxony at an early age and was recommended to the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig. After successfully passing the entrance examination, she began studying with Friedemann Wezel at the age of 11, who remained her teacher and mentor until 2023. Currently, she is studying at the University of Music and Theatre in Munich with Ingolf Turban and Pinchas Adt.

As a scholarship holder of the Music Academy in Liechtenstein, she regularly participates in the intensive weeks held there. She has also attended international masterclasses with Tanja Becker-Bender and Elisabeth Kufferath and has received important musical inspiration from David Watkin, Jack Liebeck, Linus Roth, Veronika Eberle, Tobias Feldmann, Tianwa Yang, Boris Kusnezow, and Caspar Frantz.

Lucie Bartholomäi performed as a soloist at the age of 10 with orchestras such as the Vogtland Philharmonic and the Erzgebirgische Philharmonie. With the latter, she performed Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Violin Concerto, which was highly praised by the press and audience alike. Her artistic versatility is evident in repeated invitations to festivals such as the Leipzig Bach Festival or the Graun Festivals of the Kulturreise Elbe-Elster. Additionally, she has performed at the Festspiele Mecklenburg Vorpommern and has given concerts in the Czech Republic, Liechtenstein, and South Africa.

In addition to her chamber music and solo activities, she has won numerous awards, including multiple 1st prizes at the state and national levels of the "Jugend musiziert" competition and the special prize for outstanding musical achievement from the Saxon State Ministry of Science and the Arts. She also won the 1st prize at the international music competition "Grand Prize Virtuoso" in Vienna. In 2022, she was a semifinalist at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig.

Lucie Bartholomäi is a scholarship holder of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and is supported by the Sächsische Mozart-Gesellschaft e.V. and the Händel-Mozart Youth Scholarship of the City of Halle/Salzburg. In 2016, she was appointed the youngest ambassador of the Erzgebirge region.

As the winner of the 29th competition of the German Musical Instrument Fund, she has been provided with a violin by Haiko Seifert, Plauen 2018, by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben since February 2022. Additionally, she plays an instrument specially built for her by Jürgen Manthey, Leipzig 2016.

In May 2021, her debut CD "female" was released on the GENUIN Classics label, featuring works by Clara Schumann, Louise Farrenc, Amy Beach, and Rebecca Clarke. It was highly praised by critics and nominated in three categories for the OPUS KLASSIK 2022 award.
