Biography

Kai Uemura was born in 2015 in Singapore to a Japanese family. At the age of five and a half, he received his first violin lessons in Hong Kong.
Since 2026, Kai has been a junior student at the Julius Stern Institute of the Berlin University of the Arts, studying with Prof. Latica Honda-Rosenberg.
Previously, he studied at the Leopold Mozart College of Music at the University of Augsburg with Prof. Linus Roth.
His artistic development has also been enriched through masterclasses with Prof. Ivan Straus, Prof. Tatiana Liberova, and Dr. Robin Wilson. In addition, Kai is a scholarship holder of the Music Academy Liechtenstein, where he participates in intensive weeks and various academy activities.
He is a prizewinner of several national and international competitions. Among other achievements, he received first prize with the highest score at the 29th Carl Schroeder Competition and second prize at the 67th Kocian International Violin Competition in 2025.
As a prizewinner of the conTakt-junior e.V. competition, he has been provided with a 3/4 violin by Finnigan & Klaembt as well as a 3/4 bow by Werner Uebel.
Kai is also a scholarship holder of the Hermann and Dr. Irmgard Neumann Foundation and is generously supported by the foundation.
