Biography
The pianist Petya Mihneva was born in the Bulgarian town of Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. She studied with Atanas Kurtev and Krassimir Gatev at the State Academy of Music in Sofia and with Rada Petkova at the University of the Arts in Bern, where she obtained her concert diploma in 2007.
She then continued her studies in the class of Eckart Heiligers at the Zurich University of the Arts, where she and received her diploma in piano chamber music with honours in 2009. for piano chamber music. Petya Mihneva won the Schubert Competition the Schubert Competition and the international competition ‘The Classical and the Modern’. In Switzerland she was a prizewinner at the Duttweiler-Hug Competition. She has performed in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, France France, Slovenia, Bulgaria, New Zealand and South Korea and has performed at the Lucerne Festival, Feldkirch Festival and the Bern Biennale. As a chamber musician, she regularly performs with members of the members of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, including with the Martin Frutiger, with whom she has already released three CDs: a programme with works by Pasculli, Yvon and Pasculli, Yvon and Daelli (2013) and the albums Elegy (2018) and Monody (2021). Together with the Korean violinist Hyunjong Reents-Kang and Swiss cellist Swiss cellist Eva Lüthi, she forms the Norea Trio.
