Biography

Angela Rose Padula is a first year cellist at the Juilliard School in the studios of Clara Minhye Kim and Zvi Plesser, where she is honored to be a Kovner Fellowship recipient. A recent graduate of the Colburn Music Academy, Angela Rose studied with Clive Greensmith for four years as a Greendale Scholar. In April she performed Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme with Colburn’s Academy Virtuosi and conductor Mert Yalniz as the 2024–2025 Colburn Music Academy Concerto Competition winner. In October Angela Rose won the Silver Medal at the 2025 Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (WA) Young Artist Competition. She has been part of the Perlman Music Program since 2020, attending the Summer Music School as well as the Sarasota and Israel Residencies. Angela Rose was a 2025 National YoungArts Winner and a 2024 Finalist for From the Top. Together with Trío de Ángeles, which formed at the Colburn School in 2023, she won the Horszowski Piano Trio Prize at the 2024 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and in 2023 participated in a master class with Gautier Capuçon, Lisa Batiashvili, and Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Angela Rose performed as a soloist with the Oregon Mozart Players in 2019 as the Young Soloist Competition junior division winner. During her fourth year at the Colburn Music Academy, Angela Rose played on a John Betts cello (circa 1775) on loan from the Geeting Family. Angela Rose currently plays on a 1706 Matthias Thier cello on loan from The Juilliard School’s stringed instrument collection.
