Biography

Javier Burgos Piquer was born in Valencia (Spain) in 2004. Since 2022, he has been a student at the Reina Sofía School of Music, in the Telefónica Violin Chair, under Professor Christoph Poppen. He is the recipient of scholarships from Havas and the Albéniz Foundation. He began studying at the age of five with José Miguel Rodrigo and later with Victoria Lorente at the Valencia Professional Conservatory of Music (Extraordinary Prize in his specialty, 2020/2021 academic year), as well as with Gjorgi Dimcevski. He has also received masterclasses from Mihaela Martin, Boris Kushnir, Miriam Fried, Ulf Wallin, Heinz Holliger and Robert Levin. He was a member of the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Seville, where he studied with Miguel Colom and served as concertmaster under the direction of maestro Heras-Casado. He has won first prizes in the Fes Art Soloist Competition and the Valencia International Music Festival, where he also received a special award. He has appeared as a soloist with the Valencia Conservatory Orchestra and the Valencia International Music Festival Orchestra, following the award he received in 2019. As a student of the School, he has played with the Freixenet Orchestra (conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Juanjo Mena, Péter Csaba, Sir András Schiff, and Nicolás Pasquet), with the EDP Foundation Camerata (conducted by Christoph Poppen and Giovanni Guzzo), and with the Sinfonietta (conducted by Zsolt Nagy). He has also been a member of the Ramales Quartet and the Areti Trio. He is currently a member of the Alma Mahler Trio.
