Biography
Biel Ricart Gélinas began studying the violin at the age of four with Montse Ciurans at the “El Musical” Conservatory in Bellaterra (Barcelona, Spain). He continued his education at the Institut Escola Artístic Oriol Martorell in Barcelona under Heriberto Fonseca, graduating with honors in his final year (2019). That same year, he was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon (CNSMDL) in France, where he pursued his undergraduate degree under the guidance of Marianne Piketty, Harvey Da Souza, and Manuel Solans.

In 2021, he completed a one-year program in concert artist training in string quartet performance with the Quatuor Nadia, under the mentorship of Luc-Marie Aguera at the Conservatoire Régional de Paris (CRR). He earned his Diplôme National Supérieur Professionnel de Musicien (DNSPM) in 2022 and continued into a master’s program at CNSMD Lyon, which he completed with a final recital awarded 18/20, receiving unanimous high honors and the jury’s congratulations.
In 2024, he joined the Accademia Stauffer in Italy as part of the prestigious Artist Diploma Concertmaster program, where he has studied—and continues to study—with distinguished concertmasters such as Noah Bendix-Balgley and Kolja Blacher, among others. In september 2025 he will start a Master's degree in Hochschule für Musik Basel FHNW with Barbara Doll.
He has taken part in masterclasses with Kai Gleusteen, Raquel Castro (IEA Oriol Martorell, Barcelona), Yuri Volguin, Vera Martínez, Eva Graubin (Escuela de Música de Sant Gregori, Barcelona), Corrado Bolsi, Ludmila Railean (XXXVI International Music Course, Cervera), Nicolas Chumachenco, Sergio Castro, Anna Baget, Mariana Todorova (XVI International Classical Music Festival of the Pyrenees, Canfranc), Marianne Piketty (Académie de Pâques, Paris / International Music Academy, Tignes), Ju-Young Baek (Pau Casals Festival, Prades), Julia Fischer, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, and Jennifer Gilbert (CNSMD Lyon). In the field of chamber music, he has received guidance from the Quatuor Gerhard, Quatuor Casals (International Quartet Academy in Vic), Guillaume Sutre, Yovan Markovich, Marie Chilemme (Flaine International Music Academy), Pierre Colombet (Quatuor Ébène), Rainer Schmidt (Quatuor Hagen), Agnès Sulem, Jean Sulem, Franck Krawczyk (CNSMD Lyon), the Shanghai Quartet, and the Artis Quartet (Pau Casals Festival, Prades).
He has been awarded several prizes, including first prize at the Sant Gregori School Competition (2016), the Girona Musical Performance Competition (2017), second prize at the Barcelona Strings Competition (2018), and a special mention at the BBVA Individual Talent Award (2018), among others. From 2017 to 2019, he was a member of the JONC (National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia), serving as concertmaster during the summer session of 2017 and working with conductors such as Josep Pons and Manel Valdivieso. He was also a member of the EUYO (European Union Youth Orchestra) in 2022 and 2023, working with conductors including Iván Fischer and Gianandrea Noseda. In 2023, he held the positions of assistant concertmaster and assistant principal second violin. He has been selected to participate in the 2025 Verbier Festival Orchestra as well as the Pacific Music Festival in Japan. He regularly collaborates with the Orchestre National de Lyon (ONL) and the Orchestre National d’Auvergne (ONA), performing both as tutti and co-soloist. He has also worked with the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie (OPS), the Opéra de Marseille, and the Budapest Festival Orchestra (BFO). He has appeared several times as a soloist with the CNSMD Lyon Orchestra, performing works such as Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1 and Haydn’s Sinfonia Concertante. In 2023, he was a member of the Quatuor Vivancos and participated in the Pierre Bleuse Pau Casals Festival in Prades, France. That same year, he was awarded the First Palau Prize by Juventudes Musicales de España at the 2024 Marató Primer Palau.
