Biography

Linda Yuan, born in 2010 in Germany, began piano lessons at the age of four with Pinasti Tan. She is currently a student at the Hölderlin Gymnasium in Heidelberg. Since 2018 she has been studying piano with Uwe Balser at the Heidelberg Music School. In April 2024 she joined the Young Academy Rostock (YARO) at the Rostock University of Music and Drama, where she studies with Professor Matthias Kirschnereit. Since October 2024 she has also been an early student of Professor Roland Krüger at the Institute for the Advancement of Musically Highly Gifted (IFF) at the Hanover University of Music, Drama, and Media.

Linda has received artistic inspiration in masterclasses with renowned pianists and pedagogues such as Arie Vardi, Janina Fialkowska, HaeSun Paik, Dang Thai Son, Piotr Paleczny, Krzysztof Jablonski, Rudolf Meister, Jay Peng Chieh Sun, Xiaohan Wang, among others. She is a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein, where she regularly participates in intensive weeks and activities. She also holds scholarships from the German Music Life Foundation and the Heidelberg Music and Singing School Foundation.

Since the age of six, Linda has successfully participated in national and international piano competitions, winning dozens of first prizes and special awards. Her achievements include prizes at the Henle Piano Competition in Munich (2020), the WPTA International Piano Competition in Singapore (2021), the Kleiner Schumann Competition in Zwickau (2022), the International MozArte Competition in Aachen (2022), the Steinway Piano Competition in Hamburg (2022), the Carl Bechstein Competition in Berlin (2022), the International Robert Schumann Competition in Düsseldorf (2023), the Bundeswettbewerb Jugend musiziert (highest distinction, 2023), the WDR 3 Classical Music Prize of the City of Münster with WESPE (live broadcast, Nov 1, 2023 on WDR3), the International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Pianists (2023), the Broumov Key Competition in the Czech Republic (2024), and the International Carl Maria von Weber Competition in Dresden (2024). In 2025 she became a prizewinner at the Concours International Piano Neuchâtel – Val de Travers and at the 2nd International Piano Competition for Young Pianists Kronberg. In May 2025 she won First Prize and a Special Award at the 32nd International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Szafarnia, Poland.

At the age of ten, Linda gave her first solo recital and has since gained broad experience in orchestral and chamber music performance. She has appeared at music universities in Hanover, Rostock, and Karlsruhe, with the Cologne Chamber Orchestra in the Robert Schumann Hall, with the Orchestra of the Belvedere Music Gymnasium in the Weimarhalle, with the TfN Philharmonic in the Great House of TfN Hildesheim and in the Kaiserpfalz Goslar. She has performed in renowned venues such as the Semperoper Dresden, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Robert Schumann Hall Düsseldorf, Jordan Hall at NEC Boston, Casals Forum Kronberg, and the Palais Prinz Carl Heidelberg. In 2024 she was invited to perform at Young Stars – Cannstatter Klavierfrühling at Steinway & Sons in Stuttgart. Further performances in 2024 included the Za poklady Broumovska Festival in the Czech Republic and the Broumov Key Prizewinner’s Concert at the Polish Embassy in Prague. In 2025 she performed at the Schumann Festival in Bonn, as well as at the Liszt Festival at Schillingsfürst Castle and at the 80th Summer Music Days Hitzacker.

Supported by a full scholarship, Linda participated successfully in the 28th Morningside Music Bridge Program at the New England Conservatory in Boston (USA) in July–August 2024, with solo performances, chamber music, and numerous masterclasses.
