Biography
Born in South Korea in 1998, Joon Hurh began his musical education at the Yehudi Menuhin School studying the violin with Akiko Ono. During his last year at school, Joon switched to the viola and studied with Boris Kucharsky and Andriy Viytovych. Currently, he studies with Thomas Riebl at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg.
He has worked with multiple musicians such as Gustav Rivinius, Nobuko Imai, William Coleman, Simone Zgraggen, David Takeno, Sergey Ostrovsky, Barbara Buntrock, Noemie Bialobroda and the Emerson String Quartet. He also receives a scholarship from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, and take part in the intensive music weeks and activities offered by the Academy.

In February 2017, Joon received the 3rd prize at the “Malta International Music Competition” held in St Julian's, Malta.
As a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral member, Joon has had the opportunity to perform in various venues across Europe, including the Mansion House, Saanen Church, Muziekgebouw, Berlin Konzerthaus, Wiener Saal, Wigmore Hall, Solsona Theatre and Milton Court Concert Hall.
