Biography
Jia Yuan Chong was born in 2002 in Malaysia. He received his first piano lessons at the age of four in Kuala Lumpur from the British teacher Ann Perreau. At the age of 12, he achieved the highest marks in the Diploma Piano exam from the University of West London. In 2016, he began studying privately with pianist and composer Ng Chong Lim, who guided him to pass the entrance examination for the Lübeck Academy of Music (Musikhochschule Lübeck), where he is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree under the tutelage of Prof. Konstanze Eickhorst.
He received further musical impulses at numerous national and international masterclasses from renowned artists such as Prof. Dina Yoffe, Prof. Robert Levin, and Prof. Manana Gotsiridze. In addition to solo piano, he has worked extensively on chamber music in masterclasses by Prof. Silke Avenhaus, Prof. Angelika Merkle, and Prof. Sebastian Euler. He’s a scholarship holder of the Music Academy of Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities offered by the academy.

Jia Yuan took part in the prestigious “Singapore International Piano Competition 2020” (SIPC 2020), winning the 1stprize and the gold award in his category.
In 2015, he was invited to perform with the Hong Kong Music Summer Orchestra under the baton of Maestro James Judd. He has also performed both solo and chamber music in concert halls in Tokyo, Jakarta and multiple halls in Malaysia such as Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP, home of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra), The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC), the Dewan Sri Pinang (Penang Philharmonic Orchestra), the Bentley Music Hall, the Plenary Hall Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), etc.
Jia Yuan is a recipient of multiple scholarships over his study career, which have supported him in his musical endeavors, namely, the Cempaka Schools music department, the Tune Libra Foundation, the Possehl Foundation, and currently the Ad-Infinitum foundation in Lübeck.
