Biography

Supawee Srisurichan (Poon) was born in Thailand in 2002. He began his musical training at the age of four, but it was not until he was eleven that he began his serious piano study. He was a student of Sek Thongsuwan and Susama Pongpladisai and took regular lessons with Prof. Rolf-Dieter Arens. In 2017, he moved to Europe to study at the renowned Mozarteum at the University of Salzburg (Pre-College Program) with Professor Claudius Tanski. One year later, at the age of 16, he enrolled in the bachelor's program and is currently continuing his master's studies in the class of Professor Pavel Gililov at the Mozarteum.

Supawee is a scholarship holder of the Liechtenstein Music Academy and takes part in the academy's intensive weeks and activities. 

He achieved considerable success in piano competitions. Among other things, he won the 1st prize in the “Set Youth Musician Competition”, the 2nd prize in the “Thailand Steinway Youth Piano Competition” and the 1st prize in the “Beethoven Piano Competition” in Thailand. Furthermore, he won the 1st prize at the “Thailand Mozart International Piano Competition” in the 18-24 years category and twice in a row at the “Princes Galyani Vadhana International Ensemble Competition” in 2016 and 2017 in the Duet for Piano and another Instrument category. In addition, he was selected as a finalist at the “Friuli Venezia Giulia International Piano Competition” in Sacile with the plan to perform in the final round together with an orchestra in 2024. 

Supawee was invited to the Beethoven Festival in Bonn. In 2019, he successfully performed Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor with an orchestra in the Great Concert Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation. He gave a speech at the St. Gilgen International School as part of the StGIS Inspiring People - Volume 13 series. He also recorded a video of Beethoven's sonata opus 31 No. 2 "Der Sturm" as part of the Beethoven Project for the renowned publisher Henle Verlagon. Supawee's performance of the sonata can be viewed on Henle Verlag's official website.
