Biography

Duru Erdogan was born in Turkey in 2004. She began her piano studies at the Bilkent University Junior Music School with Gamze Kirtil. In 2017, she was accepted with a generous scholarship at The Yehudi Menuhin School in London, where she studied with Marcel Baudet. Currently, she’s continuing her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler with Prof. Eldar Nebolsin. 

Duru participated in sonata masterclasses under the tutelage of Coosje Wijzenbeek and Marcel Baudet at the Akoesticum Centre for Arts in Holland. In 2023, she participated in the Chamber Lab Montecastelli, a 10-day Academy consisting of chamber music tuition and concerts. She’s a scholarship holder of the Music Academy of Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities offered by the academy.

Duru has won several prizes in international competitions around Turkey. In 2019, she won the 1^st prize and the title “Young Pianist Of The North” in the “Young Pianist Of the North International Competition”. In 2021, she won the 1^stprize in the “Franz Liszt Center Online Competition”, an incentive award in the “Arte Piano e-competition” while being the youngest participant of the competition, and the 1^st prize in the “Spotlight International Competition”. In 2022, she won the 1^st prize in the “London Classical Music Competition” and the 2^nd prize in the “Beecham Piano Competition”, whilst also participating in the “BBC Young Musician” and passing through to the category finals, selected as one of the five chosen pianists.

In 2017, Duru performed as a soloist with the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra for the first time. In 2018 as well as in 2022, she was selected to join a tour of Scotland, and gave performances as a soloist and accompanist in Blair Atholl, New Lanark and Edinburgh. She has also performed in The Menuhin Hall many times, as soloist and in chamber music groups throughout her studies at The Yehudi Menuhin School. Also in 2018, she was invited to perform at the PianoDuo Festival in Amsterdam.
