Biography

Nika Ruotong Zhu was born in Germany in 2011. She received her first violin lessons at the age of four. She received private lessons from Ms. Zoya Nevgodovska at the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Music High School in Berlin, where she was admitted in 2021. 

Nika attended several master classes with Prof. O. Zolotareva, Prof. Latica Honda-Rosenberg and Ms. Zoya Nevgodovska, among others. She is also a scholarship holder of the Academy of Music in Liechtenstein and takes part in the academy's intensive weeks and activities.

In 2019 and 2022, she won the 1st prize in the Berlin-Nord regional competition and the Berlin state competition for “Jugend musiziert”. In 2020, she received the 2nd prize at the “International Music Competition Nouvelles Étoiles”. From 2020 to 2022, she won the 1st prize at the “Märkische Musiktage” and was able to appear on stage several times as a prize winner with the Prussian Chamber Orchestra. She also won the 1st prize at the “Hedwig Prize International Violin Competition” in 2022 and the 2nd prize at the “Young Ludwig Youth Music Competition”. In 2023, she won the 2nd prize in category II at the “65. Kocian Violin Competition” in the Czech Republic and the prize for the best interpretation of Jaroslav Kocian Spring Song op. 19, No. 2.

Numerous performances, including at Young Classic Dialog Berlin, and active participation in the string orchestra and chamber music concerts of the Bach Music High School, as well as the participation in many events at the Morawa Music Academy in Poland enrich Nika's musical experience. 

She was given her violins, from ¼ to 7/8, and bows as a prize winner in the conTakt-junior e.V. competition.
