Biography

Born in Italy in 2000, Sofia Manvati began playing the violin at the age of seven. She is currently attending the second year of her master's degree in Soloism with Professor Laura Gorna at the Conservatory of Cremona and with Maestro Salvatore Accardo at the prestigious Walter Stauffer Academy. She also took part in the high-level training courses of the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, again with Maestro Salvatore Accardo.

She took violin lessons from renowned violinists such as Mariana Sirbu, Anton Sorokow, Pavel Vernikov and Zakhar Bron. She is also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities that take place there.

Sofia has won national and international competitions, including the “Concorso Strumentistico Nazionale Città di Giussano”, the “Valsesia Musica International Competition Juniores” in the soloist and chamber music categories, the “IV. London International Music Competition”, the “Grand Prize Virtuoso” in Vienna, for which she performed in the Glaserner Saal Musikverein, the “International Melos Competition” at the Isitituto Pontificio di Musica Sacra in Rome and the Special Prize as the best interpreter of Vivaldi's Four Seasons at the “Tibor Varga Junior Violin Competition” in Sion. She also won the 1st prize at the “European Music Competition Moncalieri”, at the “4th International Music Competition Classic Artists on line” in Cremona and at the “Lombardia è Musica Competition”.

Together with the pianist Maria Grazia Bellocchio, Sofia gave numerous solo and chamber music evenings. She performed at the Parco della Musica Santa Cecilia di Roma in a chamber music ensemble with Salvatore Accardo, Laura Gorna, Simonide Braconi, Cecilia Radic, Francesco Fiore and Laura Manzini. Regularly she gives concerts with the pianist Giorgio Lazzari. As a soloist, she has performed with the Eurasia Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maestro David Geringas in Berlin, with the Orchestra dell'Hemu di Losanna and with the New Chamber Orchestra Ferruccio Busoni di Trieste. As part of her chamber music training, she played at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona with the Walter Stauffer Academy. She plays in the OCI (Italian Chamber Orchestra) conducted by Maestro Salvatore Accardo.

With the Eurythmia Quartet, Sofia recorded a CD for Da Vinci Publishing with Olivier Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time. For the Suonare News label she collaborated with the Walter Stauffer Academy and the Orchestra Ferruccio Busoni di Trieste for the production of the complete works for violin and orchestra by W.A. Mozart performing his Concerto No. 5 K 219.
