Biography

Frieda Magdalene Hollmer was born in Cologne in 2014 into a family of musicians. Frieda chose the instruments violin and piano for herself and has been taking lessons in both instruments at the Rheinische Musikschule Köln in the classes of Michaela Zirnbauer, violin, and Maria Zeidler-Kröll, piano, since 2019. 

She received further inspiration from master classes with Prof. Ingolf Turban, Prof. Wolfgang Manz and Prof. Jacques Ammon. Since 2022, she has also been part of the HfM Rostock network with Prof. Christiane Hutcap. She is also a scholarship holder of the Liechtenstein International Music Academy and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities of the academy that take place there. 

Frieda is a prize winner of various competitions. In the years 2020-2023, she won 1^st prizes with maximum points at"Jugend Musiziert" in the categories string ensemble (trio and duo), duo piano and one string instrument, piano four hands, violin solo and piano solo. In 2022, she became the 1^st prizewinner of the “20^th Westphalian van Bremen Piano Competition Dortmund”, the “6^th Thürmer Piano Competition Bochum”, the “Hamburg Instrumental Competition” (piano and violin with distinction and a special prize for young pianists) and 2^nd prizewinner of the “8^th Bechstein Competition Berlin". In 2023, she received a 1^st prize with distinction in the "Young Competition Rostock" and the "1^st International Piano Competition Kronberg. With her brother Oscar (violoncello), she forms a permanent string duo that won the “North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber Music Promotion Prize” in May 2023. 

Frieda is a scholarship holder of the Förderverein der Rheinische Musikschule and the Zonta Club Cologne. 

The Haspa Music Foundation enables the construction of a 4/4 violin by master violin maker Anneke Degen from Hamburg.
