Biography
Jura Herceg was born in 1990 and received his first double bass lessons from Dragutin Pleše at the music school in Varaždin in 2006. In 2010 he began to study with Mario Ivelja at the Music University in Zagreb, where he successfully completed his studies in 2015. He also received a scholarship from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, where he took part in the intensive music weeks held by Roman Patkoló. He has also attended masterclasses with Zoran Markovic, Stefano Sciascia and Dominik Greger.
One highlight of his successful participation in music competitions was winning the 1st prize in the Croatian national competition in 2013.
He has already performed as a soloist with the Zagreb Soloists and the Varaždin Chamber Orchestra. Although his various solo activities have been crowned with success, the double bass player dedicates himself mainly to chamber and orchestral music. He has taken part in several performances of the European Union Youth Orchestra, was a member of the Croatian Baroque Ensemble, and worked together with the Zagreb Soloists, the HRT Symphony Orchestra and the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. He currently plays double bass in the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of the ENSEMBLE ESPERANZA, which is made up of scholarship holders from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein. He has already enjoyed the opportunity to perform in renowned European venues, such as the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Royal Albert Hall and the “Concertgebouw” in Amsterdam. Additionally, he has been invited to perform at the FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION in Bad Ragaz on several occasions.
