Biography
Charlotte Melkonian was born in Germany in 2013. She began playing the cello at the age of four and received her first cello lessons at the Cello Academy in Hamburg. Additionally, she trained in Yerevan, Armenia, at the Komitas Conservatory. Since April 2022, she has been supported by Prof. Martin Brauss in the preliminary class at the Institute for Early Development of the Musically Gifted at the Hannover University of Music, Theater and Media. Charlotte has been a young student at the Julius Stern Institute at the Berlin University of the Arts since 2023 in Prof. Jens Peter Maintz's cello class.

Charlotte received cello lessons at the Mozarteum Salzburg and also attends masterclasses with Prof. Philippe Muller, Narek Hakhnazaryan, Prof. Maria Kliegel and Prof. Jens Peter Maintz, among others. She is a scholarship holder at the Lichtenstein Music Academy and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities that take place there.
Charlotte was able to win 1st prizes in numerous competitions, including the 1st prize with full points at “Jugend Musiziert” in the cello solo, chamber music duo and trio categories, the 1st prize and the special prize from the European Friends of Berlin at the “International Young Ludwig Competition”, the 1st prize with distinction at the “Hamburg Instrumental Competition” and the 1st prize in the “International Geringas Cello Competition” in Klaipeda, Lithuania. She has also been awarded the “Note for Note” chamber music sponsorship award.
Charlotte's concert activities include performances as a soloist in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg with the Hanse Philharmonie Hamburg, at the Summer Music Days in Hitzacker, a concert in Ely, England, as well as as a soloist at the NDR with the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover and at the Chamber Music Days in Hohenems, among others. At the Sion Violon Festival she played as a soloist with the Sion Festival Orchestra.
