Biography
Akito Tani was born in 2003 in Japan. Currently he studies under Okamoto Michiko, Suzuki Hironao and Nagano Eiko and is a first grade scholarship student at Toho Gakuen School of Music.
He’s a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensiv weeks and activities offered by the academy.
Akito won several prizes at national and international competitions. Among others, he won the 1st prize as well as the Iwatani, Nomura, Iguchi, Kawai, Miyake and Argerich Arts Foundation Prizes at the “90th Music Competition of Japan”, the 2nd prize (no 1st prize winner) and the audience prize in the piano division at the “18th Tokyo Music Competition”, the “Superior Grade Bronze Prize” at the “44th PTNA Piano Competition”, the “Kitakyushu Citizens' Culture Awards Encouragement Prize”, the 1st prize at the “1st International Tchaikovsky Online Piano Competition for Young Musicians”, the 1st prize at the “17th Czech Music Competition in Japan” and the “6th Arion Toho Music Award”. He won the special prize at the “20th Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition” and with the recommendation of the late Nakamura Hiroko, Akito performed in a TV program Untitled Concert. He also received the “38th Kirishima International Music Festival Award”, the “Tsutsumi Tsuyoshi Music Director Prize”, the 1st prize and the “Moonlight prize” as the youngest laureate at the “21st Hupfer Tosu Piano Concours”.

Akito performed in the Toppan Hall Lunch Time Concert Vol. 97 and Vol. 101 as well as with many orchestras including the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic, the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, the Geidai Philharmonia Orchestra, the Kitakyushu Grand Philharmony Orchestra and the Korean Symphony Orchestra.
In 2021, Aktio received the Rohm Music Foundation scholarship.
