Biography

Kathrin Waldner was born in Austria in 1998. While she was at the Musikgymnasium in Vienna, she began studying music as a young student at the MUK in Vienna. After graduating from high school, she completed a trainee ship at the Arts Performing Center Tsumeb in Namibia. She is currently studying concert flute at the University of Music and Performing Arts (Mdw) with Prof. Walter Auer, principal flutist of the Vienna Philharmonic. As part of Erasmus, she previously completed three semesters at the CNSMD in Lyon in the class of Julien Beaudiment.

Masterclasses with Philippe Bernold, Erwin Klambauer, Christina Fassbender, Andrea Lieberknecht and Felix Renggli complemented her artistic training. She is a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and regularly takes part in the intensive weeks and activities of the academy.

Kathrin is a multiple 1st prizewinner at national music competitions, with special prizes for radio broadcasts and CD recordings. Together with her duo partner Anna Lesjak (guitar), she will play as a soloist at the Konzerthaus Wien in April 2023 as a prizewinner of Musica Juventutis.

Concert tours have taken her to China, Colombia and various European countries. In Vienna, she has already given concerts in various ensembles, including the Vienna Jeunesse Orchestra, in the Konzerthaus, the Musikverein and the Vienna State Opera, and as a soloist in the Muth and the Mozarthaus Vienna.

Kathrin is a scholarship holder of the Werner Tripp Memorial Fund, Soroptimist and the Austrian student support organization ProScientia.
