Biography
Moritz Huemer was born in Feldkirch (Austria) in 1999 and grew up in Liechtenstein. He received his first cello lessons at the age of five from Josef Hofer at the Liechtenstein Music School. From 2015 to 2018, he was a young student in Rafael Rosenfeld's class at the Basel Music Academy and at the same time, attended the high school in Feldkirch, where he graduated in summer 2018. Since autumn 2018, he has been studying with Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar.
Moritz took part in various master classes, including with Jens Peter Maintz, David Geringas and Thomas Grossenbacher. He also receives a scholarship from the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive music weeks and activities that take place there.
In March 2022, he won the 3rd prize in the competition "Ton und Sicherheit" and was accompanied in the final by the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover.

Moritz has been a member of the Karajan Academy since 2022 and thus plays regularly with the Berlin Philharmonic. He is also regularly the section leader in the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra and the Ensemble Esperanza chamber orchestra.
Since 2021, Moritz has been a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation and the Villa Musica Academy for Chamber Music.
