Biography

Janick Cech was born in 2004 in Germany. At the age of six he received his first piano lessons from his father. Since October 2019, he has been studying at the University of Music and Theater in Munich as a young student with Prof. Michael Schäfer. 

In addition to his studies, he received valuable input from top-class professors such as Claudio Martínez Mehner, Grigory Gruzman and Antti Siirala. He is also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and regularly takes part in the intensive weeks and activities that take place there.

Janick is the winner of the “International Robert Schumann Competition” in Düsseldorf in 2021 and has won several 1stprizes in the federal competition “Jugend musiziert” (piano solo and chamber music). As part of this, he received a special award for outstanding achievements from the Steinway House in Munich in 2017. 

At the age of 14, Janick made his debut as a soloist in the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residenz with the Piano Concerto A major KV 414 by W. A. Mozart. In 2019, he performed at the Allerheiligen Hofkirche in Munich. His participation in the colluvio Chamber Music Academy as the youngest invited pianist enabled him to embark on a concert tour of Central and Eastern Europe, including a recording by Serbian radio. His second appearance in the Herkulessaal with Gershwin's Rhapsody in blue took place in March 2022. 

Janick has been a scholarship holder of the Friends of Young Musicians Foundation since 2021.
