Biography
Ània Custodio Folch was born in Spain in 1999. From 2012 to 2017, she was a junior cello student at the IEA Oriol Martorell High School with Prof. Josep Pazos. She is currently completing her bachelor's degree at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media with Prof. Leonid Gorokhov and at the Basel Music Academy with Sol Gabetta as part of her master class program.
Ànja attended master classes with Steven Isserlis, Johannes Moser, David Waterman, Maria Kliegel, Sebastian Klinger, Arto Noras, Vashti Hunter, Alexander Rudin, Leonid Gorokhov, Jan Ype Nota, Jeroen den Herder and Peter Bruns.

In 2021, she won the „Peter Erben Cello Prize“ at the international Erben Music Festival. In 2017, she was awarded the „Strings Honor Prize“ at the end of her studies as a young student and won the 2nd prize at the „Intercentros Melómano Music Competition“ in Catalonia. In 2016, she was a special prizewinner at the „Young Performers BBVA Competition“ for the best interpretation of Catalan music.
In 2022, Ània made her debut concert as a soloist at the Palau de la Música Catalana, together with the Barcelona Young Symphony Orchestra conducted by Josep Caballé Domènech. She has also taken part in festivals in Germany and abroad, including the Erben Music Festival in Munich, the Mendelssohn Festival in Hamburg, the San Marino Music Academy and the Peter de Grote Festival (Holland). She was also a participant at the Eva Lind Music Academy in Tyrol (Austria).
In 2020, Ània was awarded a scholarship from the Ernst August von Siemens Foundation and in 2019, she received a scholarship from the Yehudi Menuhin – Live Music Now Hannover e.V.
