Biography

Vladimir Acimovic was born in Serbia in 2002. He received his first piano lessons at the age of seven and was taught at the Niš Music School in the class of Prof. Suzana Mardikiyan-Novakovic. He studied with Prof. Milana Chernyavska at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and is completing his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. 

Vladimir attended masterclasses with Dmitri Bashkirov, Pavel Gililov, Milana Chernyavska, Arie Vardi, Arbo Valdma, Kemal Gekic and Bruno Canino. He also took part in piano courses with famous Bulgarian piano professors such as Milena Kurteva and Ilia Tchernaev. He is also a scholarship holder at the Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the academy's intensive weeks and activities there.

Just a few months after Vladimir started playing the piano, he was already winning his first international prizes. These include 1st prizes at the “International Piano Competition in Šabac” in Serbia in 2010 and 2011, at the national competition in Belgrade in 2011 and 2017, at the “Ohrid Pearls International Competition for Young Musicians” in Macedonia in 2012 and at the “International Competition New Pianists” in Bulgaria in 2014, at the “International Craiova Piano Competition” in Romania in 2015 and at the “International Competition for Young Pianists” in Serbia in 2010 and 2016. In 2015, he won the 1st prize and the special prize for the best performance of the work of Claude Debussy at the “International Piano Competition Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte” in the Czech Republic and in 2016 the 2nd prize at the “Isidor Bajic Piano Memorial International Piano Competition” in Serbia. In 2019, he was awarded the 1st prize at the “4th International Piano Competition for young pianists Merci, Maestro!” in Belgium. Vladimir is the winner of the “Constantinus Prize 2012”, which is awarded to the most promising musicians under the age of 18. He also received the “Dositeja Prize” from the Serbian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts Prize, which is awarded to up-and-coming young talents in Serbia for their achievements in the field of culture. He won the 3rdprize in the major category and the special prize for the most promising pianist at the “2. International Piano Competition” in Radovljica 2021. In the same year, he won the 2nd prize at the “International Competition for Young Pianists Arthur Rubinstein in memoriam” in Poland. Most recently, he received the 3rd prize at the “Young Virtuosi International Competition” in Bulgaria. 

Vladimir gave his first concert with an orchestra at the age of ten in one of the most renowned concert halls in Serbia, the Great Hall of the Kolarac Foundation, as well as in the Royal Palace in Belgrade together with the Amoroso Chamber Orchestra and the conductor Milena Injac. He has performed in Bulgaria, Italy, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, Serbia and the Czech Republic and gave recitals at the Constantinus and Nimus international festivals in Niš, in the Liechtenstein State Museum, in the Kolarac Cultural Center in Belgrade, in the Concert Hall of the symphony orchestra and in the synagogue of Niš as well as in all major cities in Serbia. 

Vladimir played as a soloist with the Niš Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Daniele Moles and with the ArtLink string orchestra. As a representative of the Serbian Ministry of Culture, he performed with the Presidential Orchestra of the Russian Federation under the direction of Anton Orlov in the Concert Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace, in the St. George Hall and at the Melodika Pokoleniy Festival in Moscow. 

Vladimir was a scholarship holder at the Aspen School of Music in Yoheved Kaplinsky's class and is a scholarship holder of the Fund for Young Talents of the Republic of Serbia.
