Biography
Maria Salvatori was born in Italy in 2004. She began playing the cello at the age of five. In 2016, she won the scholarship as best student of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, studying with Marianne Chen and Luca Provenzani. In 2017, she started studying with Ivan Monighetti in Basel. Since 2021, she’s been studying at the Escuela de Música Reina Sofia in Madrid in Ivan Monighetti’s class.
In addition to her regular studies, she received masterclasses from Natalia Gutman, David Geringas and Frans Helmerson. She’s a scholarship holder of the Academy of Music in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive music weeks and activities held there.

Maria won national and international prizes like the 1st prize at the “Concorso Nazionale Riviera Etrusca”, the 1st prize at the “7th Concorso Internazionale Antonio Salieri”, the 1st prize at the “11th International Cello Competition Antonio Janigro” in Croatia and the 1st absolute prize at the “XII Premio Crescendo – Città di Firenze” in 2021.
In 2022, Rai Radio 3 dedicated to Maria two episodes of the broadcast La stanza della Musica. In the same year, she was selected in the soloist program of the project Attraverso I Suoni, which engaged her in a series of concerts in Italy. In 2019, she got selected as principal cello of the Royal Concertgebouw Youth Orchestra in Amsterdam and of the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra (VFJO). She is currently playing in chamber music groups with whom she performed in important concert institutions such as Teatro La Fenice of Venice, Amici della Musica of Florence, Filarmonica Romana and the Cantiere Internazionale d’arte of Montepulciano.
Since 2020, she is supported by the Associazione culturale Musica con le Ali.
