Biography

Carolin Salome Eychmüller was born in 1996 and grew up in Cologne in a family of musicians. She received her first cello lessons at the age of six from Susanne Bohn-Schultze. At the age of 15, she became a young student at the Folkwang University in Essen with Prof. Alexander Hülshoff. After graduating from high school in 2014, she took classes with Prof. Fabio Presgrave in Natal (Brazil) at the Universidade Rio Grande do Norte. In 2015, she began her bachelor's degree with Prof. Sebastian Klinger at the HfMT Hamburg, which she completed in 2019. In 2019, she began her master's degree with Prof. Christian Poltéra at the HSLU Lucerne and since autumn 2020, she has been studying with Prof Thomas Grossenbacher at the ZHdK in Zurich.

Carolin attended master classes with Prof. Wolfgang Boettcher, Prof. Thomas Grossenbacher, Prof. Troels Svane, Prof. Claudio Bohórquez, Prof. Csaba Onczay and Prof. Stefan Forck. She also receives a scholarship from the Liechtenstein International Music Academy and regularly takes part in the intensive music weeks and activities of the academy. 

In 2013, she won the 1st prize in the national competition "Jugend musiziert" in the solo cello category. 

Carolin was a member of the Federal Youth Orchestra, the North Rhine-Westphalia State Youth Orchestra, the Cologne Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Ensemble StudiomusikFabrik (state youth ensemble for new music). In summer 2019, she taught as a cello lecturer in two master classes at the Festival Internacional de Música de Barra Mansa (Rio de Janeiro) and the Festival Primeiro Encontro Musical de Indaiatuba (São Paulo). In the 20/21 season she was an academist in the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. 

From 2017-2019, Carolin was a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin LiveMusicNow Hamburg association and since 2021 of the Villa Musica Foundation.
