Biography

Shinyoung Lee was born in South Korea in 1997 and has been playing the piano since she was seven. She studied with Prof. Jaemi Kim from 2009 to 2012 at the Konkuk University Young Musicians Academy, where she received scholarships from the metropolitan city of Seoul. From 2010 to 2012, she was also a student at the Sunwha Arts Middle School, where she was sponsored by the Sunwha Piano Society. From 2014 to 2019, she completed her Bachelor of Music with Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit at the University of Music and Theater in Rostock. She is currently studying in the master's program at the University of Music and Theater in Munich with Prof. Antti Siirala.

Shinyoung received musical impulses in numerous master classes, among others with Prof. Arnulf von Arnim, Prof. Jacques Rouvier, Prof. Bernd Goetzke, Elisso Virsaladze and Maria Joao Pires. She is also a scholarship holder of the Liechtenstein International Music Academy and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities of the Academy.

Shinyoung has won a variety of awards, including the including the special prize at the "Tallin Piano Competition" 2021, the 1st prize at the “Seoul Philharmonic Competition”, the 3rd prize at the “Sunhwa Music Competition” and the 3rd prize at the “Eumyoun Beethoven Competition”. After moving to Germany in 2012, while studying with Prof. Manfred Fock, she won a 2nd prize in "Jugend Musiziert" at the federal level, the 1st prize in "Die Junge Beste im Norden" at the Usedom Music Festival and the 1st prize Prize at the “Treviso International Piano Competition”.

After participating in the 2016 TONALi Piano Competition, Shinyoung was accepted into the TONALiSTEN agency. In 2016, she had two appearances at NDR in the Rolf Liebermann Studio Hamburg as part of "Podium der Jugend" and "Young Artists from the North".

In 2017, she made her debut with Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1, accompanied by the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock. Furthermore, she performed concerts at the Mecklenburg-West Pomeranian Festival, the Usedom Music Festival, the Schönberger Music Summer and the Tide Concerts.

From 2016 to 2019, Shinyoung received a scholarship from the Horst Rahe Foundation and has been a scholarship holder at “Yehudi Menuhin - Live Music Now” Munich since 2021.
