Biography
Fabian Johannes Egger was born in Germany in 2007. At the age of five, he began to play the flute with his parents. He has been studying at the Pre-College of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 2016 and was admitted to the Leopold Mozart Institute for the gifted. In 2020, he was accepted into the flute class of Prof. Andrea Lieberknecht in Munich.
He attended masterclasses with Philippe Bernold, Sébastian Jacot, Wally Hase, Felix Renggli, Paolo Taballione, Jean-Claude Gérard, Jasmin Choi, Dieter Flury, Jocelyn Aubrun, Sarah Rumer, Anne-Cathérine Heinzmann and Emanuel Pahud. He receives a scholarship from the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities that take place there.

Fabian has already won numerous 1st prizes in national and international competitions. Among other things, he won the "Enkor International Competition" (grand prize), the "Concorso Flautistico Internazionale Sergio Zampetti" of the Italian flute company FALAUT, the "La Côte Flûte Festival Junior Competition", the "Lions Music Prize Germany" (up to 23 years of age) and the "Jugend Musiziert" competition in Germany (highest score at the highest level). In 2019, he won the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe’s advancement award for young, highly talented musicians (woodwind/piano duo) at the “Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival”. In 2021, he won the 1st prize at the "International Young Artist Competition" category B in Tampere/Finland and was invited to perform at the next Tampere Flute Fest in 2022. In 2022, he received the 1st federal prize "Jugend musiziert" with the highest score in the duo category flute/piano, was a prizewinner at the "International Summer Academy of the University Mozarteum Salzburg", received the "Ignaz Pleyel Prize for Chamber Music" (wind trio) at the International Summer Academy of the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna as well as the "ARTS Culture Promotion Prize". He has also received a number of special prizes and audience awards.
Fabian has been invited to festivals such as the Salzburg Mozart Week, the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival and Arsonore Graz. He played as a soloist with various orchestras such as the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, the Mitteldeutsches Kammerorchester, the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic and the Mozart Children Orchestra at the Salzburg Mozart Week 2020. The La Côte Flûte Festival invited him as a guest artist to their Autumn Festival 2021, where he was part performed a concertino dedicated to him by the Swiss composer Blaise Mettraux with the Orchester de Chambre de Genève.
Fabian is also interested in improvisation and composition and was broadcast on the BR radio program with several of his own compositions.
