Luis Aracama

Biography

Luis Aracama was born in Spain in 2005. His cello studies began at the age of seven at the Ponferrada Conservatory with Professor Laura Núñez. He continued his education with Prof. María Casado and later with Prof. Michal Dmochowski. Since 2018, he has been studying at the Reina Sofía High School of Music with Professor Ivan Monighetti. 

Luis took part in various courses and master classes with Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Ralf Gothóni, Márta Gulyás, Heime Müller, Gautier Capucon, Torleif Thedéen, Alexander Lonquich, Asier Polo, Emil Rovner, Enrico Dindo, María de Macedo, Aldo Mata, Rafal Jezierski, Ralf Krausse, María Casado, Damián Martínez, Mikel Zunzundegui, Juan Mateo, Laura Oliver and Fritz Driessen, among others. He also receives a scholarship from the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive music weeks that take place there.

Luis was a prizewinner at the "Justus Dotzauer International Cello Competition" in Dresden, where he also received the special prize for best contemporary interpreter. He also won the 1st prize at the "International Cello Competition Antonio Janigro" in Croatia, the 1st prize at the "Concurso Nacional Jóvenes Promesas de Violonchelo Jaime Dobato Benavente" in Spain, the special prize "Soloists of Zagreb" in Porec (Croatia) and the 2nd prize at the "David Popper International Cello Competition". 

He was a member of the Children's Orchestra of the Galician Symphony Orchestra, with which he performed at the Opera Palace of A Coruña and the Ágora Center (Madrid). He has also been invited to play as a soloist with the Zagreb Soloists, the Classical Chamber Orchestra of Ponferrada, the Galician Children's Symphony Orchestra and the Cristóbal Halffter Conservatory of Music Chamber Orchestra. His future engagements include his participation in the Müpas Discoveries Series in Budapest as a soloist in a concert with orchestra in the Béla Bartók Hall. 

Luis recently released his first album, playing Vivaldi's double concerto with Laura Núñez and the Ponferrada Classic Camerata. 

He enjoys the study grant from the Municipality of Madrid. As a student at the school, he is part of the Schubert trio KPMG.
