Biografie

Daniel Alejandro Sanabria Torres was born in 2011 in Colombia. He’s a sensitive boy who loves reading, animals and music. His beginnings in music occurred with the teacher Omar Flórez de Armas who instilled in him a love for Colombian music. At the age of six, he played a handmade flute in a Colombian music group CREA program of the Bogotá District Institute of the Arts, and later began his studies of the transverse flute at the Candelaria Philharmonic Center. He’s currently part of the Cakike Extraordinary program and is a student of maestro Rafael Aponte, principal flute of the Colombian Symphony Orchestra.

Daniel is a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities of the academy.

He’s the winner of the „Contest for Young Soloists of the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia” in 2022, the 2nd place winner of the „Ocobo de Oro 2022 Colombian Andean Music Festival”, and the winner of the contest „National Youth Contest of Colombian Andean Music Anolaima Tierra de frutos y sonidos 2023” as Nocturnalito group.

Daniel shared the stage with the famous Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu in his presentation in Bogotá in 2019.  As a guest soloist, he performed a selection of excerpts from Mozart's concerto for flute in D major together with the National Symphony of Colombia and under the baton of maestro Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
