SOL im SAL 2022

After the SOL already performed the sixth symphony ("Pathétique") by Peter I. Tchaikovsky in November 2021 with great success and under the direction of Wayne Marshall, his fifth symphony is now following, under the guidance of permanent guest conductor Yaron Traub. Since “Germany & Russia” and their composers are in the foreground at this soirée, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy should not be missing. His violin concerto is not only a dream catchy tune, but is performed by the internationally guest violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, who is also celebrating his comeback at SOL after eight years. This 2nd "SOL im SAL" concert is also special because it is one of Emmanuel Tjeknavorian's last appearances as a violinist before he will devote himself exclusively to his conducting career. Therefore this concert evening is a very unique one. Incidentally, the refreshing polonaise from the opera “Eugene Onegin” by Peter I. Tchaikovsky, which frames this concert evening, will kick off.

Pyotr I. Tchaykovsky (1840–1893)
Polonaise from der Opera "Eugen Onegin", Op. 24 (4’)

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809–1847)
Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 (26’)

Pyotr I. Tchaykovsky (1840–1893)
Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64 (44’)
